Char all I can suggest is to search online. My Michaels keeps their birds in the floral section. Did you look there? There are several located on this site

Ok, I can't find any white mushroom birds!

Did you use a dove?

I found one of those and maybe that would work!

I tried Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and Joann's.

If anyone has any other ideas, let me know please!

Much thanks Smile

Yes the dove will work perfectly. There is not a right or wrong bird. Any bird you find and like is perfect. Just have fun creating. I found my birds in the floral section of Michael's and JoAnn's. You might also try the bridal section.

YAY… it is finally time to start… I am so excited to share these projects with you. Trying to decide which project to start with first was quite the challenge but I kept going back to this little cutie and must admit it is one of my favorites. So lets get started and have two weeks of fun creating sweet little projects for your Valentine.

I think this altered bird is just the cutest and sitting there accenting my pink feather tree makes it even cuter. There are so many possibilities for this project. It could be attached to a garland, placed into a floral arrangement or even clipped onto the edge of a plate greeting a Valentine's Day brunch or dinner guest. You can make one or create a flock it is up to you. Just have fun and let the glitter start flying. I can't wait to see what you create.

Make sure you post your finished projects in the gallery because a RAK will be given to one lucky winner near the end of the workshop.

Altered Love Bird

Supplies Needed:
White Mushroom Bird
Making Memories Light Pink Glitter
Iridescent or Clear/Pearl Glitter
Fine Silver Glass Glitter
Maya Road Maya Mist (Pink) or other dye type product you have on hand
Instant Decoupage (Only needed if using Mica Snowflakes)
Ledger Paper
Book Page
Pink Felt
Silver Pipe Cleaner
Brown & White Baker's Twine
Platinum Stickles
15 Miniature Flowers
Mica Snowflakes (Optional)

Tools Needed:
Paint Brush
Tweezers (makes adhering the miniature flowers and bow much easier)

Instructions:
1. Place a few drops of Maya Mist into a small cup of water, mix together
2. Using a paint brush, apply dyed water onto white bird, let dry (can us a hair dryer to speed up the drying time)
3. Using a small paint brush cover the body of the bird with instant decoupage, apply Light Pink Glitter, let dry
4. Using a small paint brush cover the wings of the bird with instant decoupage, apply Iridescent Glitter, let dry
5. Using a small paint brush cover the beak of the bird with instant decoupage, apply Fine Silver Glass Glitter, let dry
6. Create a cone hat out of a book page
7. Adhere silver pipe cleaner to the base of the hat

Altered Love Bird

8. Optional Step: Using a paint brush apply instant decoupage onto hat, adhere mica, let dry
9. Adhere cone hat to birds head
10. Create tiny banner out of ledge paper with XO XO typed or printed on it, trim ends and accent edge using Platinum Stickles and add a felt heart, let dry

Altered Love Bird

11. Adhere banner onto beak using a strong liquid glue or hot glue gun
12. Using a glue gun adhere 12 miniature flowers around the neck of the bird and 5 miniature flowers around the top of the cone hat
13. Create a bow using brown & white baker’s twine, adhere to front of flower garland

Tip: If using the birds with a clip or wire, temporarily attach them to the end of a ruler. This makes working with and holding them much easier.
